I don't know a lot about Buddhism but I do hear people talk about it from time to time. I do like a lot of what I hear, but also am not super impressed by some of the other things I hear. Although, it does seem to be an incredibly broad religion so it would be impossible to take in all of it or agree or disagree with all of it completely.
I'm just curious as to anyone's opinion. Buddhism does seem to share a lot in common with Gnosticism, and I imagine the two teachings probably co-mingled early on, and it does seem to be a historical fact that Manichean teachings were very influential throughout the Asian world at one time. So I guess I wonder if Buddha was an earlier manifestation of Christ or the Christ archetype in the Asian world, especially considering that Christianity hasn't ever seemed to found a very strong foothold in China, Japan, or India etc (as far as I know of).

I would consider Buhda a teacher--- The Christ figure is surrounded by divinity, something that Buhda kept away from.
