I just had an idea concerning the Testamony of Truth. Based on the different groups lambasted and it's opposition to the OT, could this text be a Marcionite text or possibly even the antithesis?

It sure seems that way. Or a follower of Marcion, since it may have been written at a much later date. The very first line speaks of those who want to take the truth back to a position where the Pharisee's were. Makes me think of Thomas: "The pharisees and the scribes have taken the keys of knowledge (gnosis) and hidden them. They themselves have not entered, nor have they allowed to enter those who wish to. You, however, be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves." Makes one wonder if a growing group in power used spiritual truth for their own purpose of physical control, IMO.

Of course. That is where the money was.
"They themselves have not entered, nor have they allowed to enter those who wish to."
Entered where?

The way I read scriptures is to try to pull the good out of them and I tend to ignore what I do not find useful. That also means of course that I am not good at the type of comparison you seek here.
Remember too that Gnostics and Jews of that day used to play with the scriptures and change them just to do what I think all gospels were written to do. Initiate discussion and be helpful to those who seek God perpetually.
This scholar says it well at about the 16 min. mark.

I understand that. I was just speculating because the text seems to be a critique against nearly every sect that the author was in contact with at the time. I think it's interesting because its one of those mysteries that has not been fully explored. Early Christian Writings speculates that it could be Julius Cassianu but its open to debate because of how fragmented the text is and because we know very little about Julius Cassianu other than what his detractors had to say about him.
