I know a few people here may be familiar with the show Attack on Titan (and if you aren't it's a pretty amazing anime), but I was bored so I decided to write down what religious symbols there might be in the show, including some possible Gnostic symbols.
I put it on a thread in reddit and the font is kind of wonky >_<

I saw the Titans as archons of sorts in that they keep the feeling of fear and panic alive an well. For the most part they are just doing their job. You also have other humans that can turn into to Titans trying kill off the remainder of humanity. One could argue that Annie and her companions yet to shown are like the Demiurge in that they turn into Titans as well. Anime has a lot of Gnostic symbolism since they don't have the western filters that we do concerning Christianity.

I'm curious would you see the show has having blatant Gnostic metaphors, or am I reaching a bit? I think it's absolutely undeniable that Eren is a Christ figure, and even though he sacrifices himself, I think he is more of a liberator like the Gnostic Christ. Other then that I don't necessarily feel certain. The Titans certainly do seem like archons, but we have yet to see a Demi-urge. (It's hard for me to know where metaphors stop and story devices begin ) I'm very curious to know what significance the three walls have. Do you have any thoughts on that? I'm guessing they're a trinity of sorts, but beyond that it's hard to guess.

(It's hard for me to know where metaphors stop and story devices begin ) I'm very curious to know what significance the three walls have. Do you have any thoughts on that? I'm guessing they're a trinity of sorts, but beyond that it's hard to guess. Concerning the walls I think it's a play on Japanese Numerology. The number 3 means birth or life because the word for it in chinese sounds similar. The Wall worshipers see the 3 walls as them finding life, but they aren't really living life. It's a superstition they've caught on to because the walls are the only world they want to know. While no we haven't met a demiurge per se we have met archons (titans) that do seem to serve a master of sorts. You have at least 3 others who can turn into Titans, Anne and two others that haven't been revealed yet (the colossus and the armored one). We're probably reaching a bit since usually when Japan uses anything related to Christianity it's to put it in as exotic, kinda like how we put anything Asian in a movie/show to be exotic over here. They don't have that filter of what Christianity has to be so when they end up picking up on Gnostic themes that are imbedded in Christianity that we normally don't recognize. If there are Gnostic themes which there seems to be, it's probably unintentional. I've also noticed that there seems to be some overlap with concepts in Buddhism and Gnostic Christianity so it's also quite likely they are drawing off of Buddhist themes we can relate with. The gods in Buddhism are pretty much regarded like archons and demiurges.
