The time has once again arrived when the world celebrates the tradition of Christmas. Each year, this tradition gets a little more commercialized and less understandable of the reason it exists. Personally, I see it more as a tradition for children. Parents using created characters to influence the imagination of children to be good, and the enjoyment of smiles and surprise of gifts on Christmas morn. To me it is a worldly holiday with a touch of spiritual wonder added. Not a bad thing, just a thing.
The birth of Christ, to those of understanding, is something we see everyday, thanking the Father for the plan and it's effect on mankind. It is not a one day celebration, but a celebration the soul feels daily. If the world wants to celebrate when the stars are aligned in a likewise array, on a holiday chosen by blind ambition, so be it. Christ went along to celebrate passover, not for himself, but for those who saw a meaning of spiritual reason.
One special event at this time for me is the reflection of self.
Jesus said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty." -Thomas
There is no story known worldwide better than a Christmas Carol. Dickens tells of a man who did this very thing. Came to know himself. In one night, a man who was so worldly, greedy and vain, is shown himself in vivid detail. His past, present, and the future that awaited him due to his path. We each can learn a lesson from Dickens. It need not be "Christmas" spirits that show us ourselves, the errors we cannot see, and our path towards death. Our Holy Spirit can do an excellent variation through the teachings of Jesus.
I hope a joyful and meaningful Christmas for all here. It is a tradition. Enjoy it to it's fullest. But remember that it is because of us that a savior was born. It is a daily experience and not a yearly one. And we must know ourselves, each and every one, and tally our blessings, past, present and future. This is the key of true celebration.
Merry Christmas to you all.
