I've seen articles on it here and there. Unfortunately there isn't much left of the text.

I think that to jump to the conclusion that this document is "proof" that Jesus was married is not that far removed from an unidentifiable object in a photo being "proof" that lizardmen have taken over the government.
We don't know what the remainder of the statement was.....but look at Thomas vs 99, which I think is a more probable answer--- I have found no other text either in the Nag Hammadi nor in the Pistis Sophia that would indicate otherwise. To project an entirely new dogma on a partial verse in an obscure document without knowing where the document is coming from, indicates more of a search for fame than reason.

Nobody's talking about proving anything here. It's just an idle curiosity. A common recurring theme in (g)nostic mythos though. Ironically, it wouldn't change anything that we know of either way. Yup, GOT 99 covers the important bases, the rest is just scenery. (IMO) I will be curious to see how it pans out in time. LOL steve, I certainly wasn't implying that anyone here was! Gosh, I somehow write as if everyone were mindreaders All over the web though, it's a constant bombardment. I know what you mean about the curiosity, as I too am curious. I'd like to know what sect it was from, the age, and the beliefs of the followers, and if it ties into any of the followers represented in the Nag Hammadi. I just hope I live long enough! As a sidee note, I have just been informed on another site by a "Gnostic" that all christian writings can be traced back to "Secret Egyptian" writings that are 10,000 years old. I simply thanked him, which is what I normally do with someone so way out in left field they are past the stands. I save my mini rants for when I am amoung friends

People on my Facebook feed have been freaking out about this, but it seems like most people can't even come close to separating historical dogma from historical artifacts. Sometimes I try to point out there is a difference, but it's like talking to someone in a different language.
