What do you do to stay skeptical and keep your sense of wonder? How do you stay in awe but not get lost in the awe? As someone I know describes it, how do you keep your "wheat" side and "frosted" side in balance? Is it possible to keep it balanced? Why or why not?

For me seeing all scripture, as they are, being the products of men makes it even more inspiring when I feel like something about them is profound or revealing of divine truth. That same knowledge that scriptures are written by men at the same time provides a healthy skepticism for me that makes me very wary of that same sense of awe that I sometimes feel when contemplating scripture or the nature of the divine. I hope all of that makes sense.
