Hi--- it's been a litttle slow on the boards, so I thought I would pipe in with something near and dear to my heart.
If you are out there trying to go it alone, you have picked a hard row to hoe. There is so little meaningful information either in print or on the web about early Christianity (which is why we are called unorthodox), that I would encourage all to find a good church that aligns with your chosen belief system. It may take a little digging. (which is one reason that A&O has online services)
There is nothing like asking a question and having a human voice giving an immediate response that can clear up long held questions or misconceptions.
Regardless of which well informed church you pick, you will finally feel like you have gone home to family.

I look at whether a Church uses at least some of the Deuterocanon. I also look at how it treats the topic of comparative religion, but I don't tolerate influence from the Qur'an. If those things are OK there's a great chance they've also been using more primary texts. "Faith alone" is not exactly my melody. But I don't want the Church to stray too much just in order to appeal to the skeptics who usually have a very different theology of God the Father. After these criteria I look at what the service is like - and make my decision, I want a bit traditional.
Privately I've started to go about getting classics, both novels (which I collect at a VERY slow pace) and Christian from the past millennium plus interest Bible versions (I have for example a community pricing order for a Gothic Bible language resources bundle) - but I keep it at a low cost per version and additional language besides the English and Ancient Greek.

It may take a little digging. True words. And we have to be careful not to be led by only what we see, or hear or false experiences. Knowing that the "angel of light" has no earthly bounds. "The foolish - thinking in their heart that if they confess, "We are Christians," in word only (but) not with power, while giving themselves over to ignorance, to a human death, not knowing where they are going nor who Christ is, thinking that they will live, when they are (really) in error - hasten towards the principalities and authorities. They fall into their clutches because of the ignorance that is in them. For (if) only words which bear testimony were effecting salvation, the whole world would endure this thing and would be saved." Testimony of Truth It is the "movement and repose" that we understand. And we need to know, that the spirit allows us to be leaders in the world, lest we become followers of it. "I will speak to those who know to hear not with the ears of the body but with the ears of the mind. For many have sought after the truth and have not been able to find it; because there has taken hold of them the old leaven of the Pharisees and the scribes of the Law. And the leaven is the errant desire of the angels and the demons and the stars. As for the Pharisees and the scribes, it is they who belong to the archons who have authority over them." Testimony of Truth We must always knock (on doors) and seek (truth) and pray we are being led by the Holy Spirit (only).
