I have 12 volumes by R. E. Brown in Logos or Accordance (they were not expensive), some of them on GJn, for example an introduction which was supposed to be for a very thorough revision of AYBC GJn, but Brown died in 1999 and the manuscripts he left were used to publish just the new introduction to GJn. Here's references to what a. DeConick has written on GJn: Gospel of JohnIs there anyone who has read both authors and can tell whether they are have very conflicting views?

When it comes to scholarship, we LIKE conflicting views I like Dr. DeConick, though I don't always agree with her conclusions. Use the varying scholars to establish the extremes, and the truth must lay within.

I haven't read that GJn introduction by Raymond yet, but I will - right now I have an awful lot to do though. (I also have a video lecture produced by the Bible Study software company which I got for $41 which utilizes lots of books, some of which I will.) Additionally, on GJn, I've bought a 1928 or 1929 commentary on the entire GJn that cost $170.95 (reg. price, it was impossible to get the price down even a little), it's called Critical and Exegetical Commentary and the volumes are by Bernard and they are in the International Critical Commentary -series. See this post: www.christianforums.com/t7847632-post66507935/#post66507935 ... for a reason to get it (post by PrincetonGuy), I will have to look at the commentary to see if there are more reasons to use it, there's a library as well which has it (but it's a somewhat long way there). I would like to keep it as I don't think the new volume (from 2009) on the first four chapters by McHugh in the same series is as good (but perhaps some volumes on some other parts of GJn will be good though, we will have to wait and see - they have not been made yet).
